Sri Lanka tour set for 2016

After four-year hiatus, we are pleased to announce that the eighth major OCCC tour will be to Sri Lanka in February/March 2016.

We last visited Sri Lanka in 1999 when the tour was wrecked by unseasonal rain which washed out all but two of the matches. This time the tour organiser, Paddy Harman, has spoken to the relevant authorities to ensure the weather will be perfect and the beaches empty. Here is his hard sell:

"I can confirm the following: Galle International Stadium has been officially reserved for a 50 over fixture and two T20 fixtures; Pakistan U21 is our first match; hotels in all three cities have been short-listed; and Alan Cope is organising an epic blue whale catamaran tour. #OCSriLanka16 is set to be the club's best tour to date!

"But it gets better. As mentioned at the AGM, unfortunately a lot of the tour regulars (dinosaurs!) will not be touring. This will however clear the path for a new generation of OC tourists. The prospective tour squad is as follows (and what a squad it is!): Will Howard, Eds Copleston, Jock Vickers, Sam Langmead, Rob Jones, Matt Crump, Tom Crump, Alan Cope, Mike Roper, Richard Ashton, Charlie Clarence-Smith , Paddy Harman, Chris Preece, Jonny Haynes, James Harrison, Jay Harman, Seren Waters, Elliot Hannah, Ross Jones Davies, Will Jordan, Morgan Fletcher."
