AGM and Dinner report
Thirty-four OCs assembled at the Alma on January 26 for what turned out to be an excellent evening. We would have passed the 40 mark but for illness, baby sitting duties and an imminent birth.
The AGM began proceedings (minutes to be published). Seren Waters was announced as the new
Captain of our Cricketer Cup side; his deputy will be Brad Scriven. There has been wholesale change at the top of the club over the past year and the new President, Mike Chetwode gave a short speech thanking the following:-
David Bugge, who has been President for the last eight years and has given sage advice and great
support to the club and those running it during that time.
Henry Watkinson, who has relinquished (and binned) the role of Chairman. Henry took over the role
five years ago and has navigated the club through some choppy waters.
Matt Crump who steps down as Cricketer Cup Captain with a record of one win, and two other final
appearances during his five years. Seren has a hard act to follow…
Rob Merry who has been our treasurer for the past nine years.
Mike Roper who has been our fixtures man for the past four years
And Jonny Gates our Hon Secretary and Social Secretary who appears not to have got the whole
memo as he’s moved on to being our new Treasurer.
Cups were then awarded:- Ollie Trower, who averaged over 67 from five innings (including a century) won the batting cup; Jack Horsey won the bowling cup for his great commitment (especially during Cricket Week) and his nine wickets (no one took more); and Rory Kennedy was voted the Players Player of the year
