Simon Copleston elected to Hall of Fame
Simon Copleston on his way to his maiden OC hundred against Lancing in 1992 |
Simon made his debut in 1992 and since then he has played 142 matches in which he has scored 4170 runs at 36.32 including six hundreds and 18 fifties. He is currently the club’s second-highest run scorer.
One of the club’s most reliable and dedicated performers, Simon was a dogged opening batsman who too often had to battle the ribbing of his own side as well as the opposition bowlers. Few players have been as committed to the club both on and off the field.
A club statement said: “Although not up for election and decided by the present members of the Hall of Fame it was announced that Simon Copleston had been indicted into the Hall of Fame. Simon has been an integral member of the club for many years as well as an extremely generous benefactor.”
